The year before high school is the time to lock in reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing. In a small group, 8th graders read closely, discuss real texts, and write with clarity — building the habits high school (and every test after) is built on.
Fridays 4:30–6:30 PM · Sep 11 – Dec 18
A real literacy foundation — not test drilling. Each weekly class integrates the areas below.
Challenging texts across fiction and nonfiction — main ideas, inference, evidence, and reading with real understanding.
Core academic vocabulary learned in context, with cumulative review so words stick for high school and beyond.
Sentence structure, punctuation, and clear paragraph and essay writing — the foundation strong high-school writing needs.
Focused, phone-free work that builds the discipline, note-taking, and confidence 8th graders carry into 9th grade.
Classes begin the week after Labor Day and run through mid-December (no class Thanksgiving week). $65 per class · 14 classes = $910 for the full term, billed monthly by classes attended.
